History

In the 1920s through the 1950s, Hamilton Heights had the highest concentration of Jewish families in the entire city of Saint Louis. At least a half dozen synagogues, two kosher butchers, two kosher poultry stores, three kosher bakeries, two kosher delis and two fish stores lined the streets.
