Circa 1910 Affordable Home in Rochester, NY Under $50K
OHU50K NOTES. $49,900
The affordable home was built in 1910 and has the disdained HGTV, updated interior. The exterior of the brick home is lovely with the arched brick work over the windows and rusticated block foundation. I don’t quite understand why it sold last month for $46,ooo, and is already up for sale again for $49,900. None, if any, improvements were made in the interim, and after closing costs, the $4,000price hike doesn’t appear to be a flipping situation.

Family History
This was the home of Rose Bieck in the 1920s to about 1950. The widow Bieck shared the home with her daughter Mabel Bowes, a clerk in a drug store, and son-in-law Andrew Bowes, a clothing store clerk. Also in the home was Mabel’s twin sister Minnie Gillette and her husband Samuel Gillete, a barber whose main language was Italian.
Per the US Census, the home was valued at $6,000 in 1930, the equivalent of $104,000 in today’s dollars.

I LOL’d at the “Windows boarded to protect new windows”. Doing your due diligence will reveal the numerous houses being shot up on a nightly basis in this and other zip codes.
