Family History
From the 1940s to the 1960s, this was the home of Jessie and Viola Palmer. Jessie was a spool handler for a textile mill. Jessie was in and out of the hospital before he died in 1963 at the age of 60. Those big spools, loaded with yarn, can weigh 800-1,000 pounds, so it is not surprising that a spool handler would get a lot of wear and tear on his body.
