Family History

In the early 1890s, this was the home of Patrick Gibbons (d.1888) and his wife Celestine Le Faivre Gibbons (1843-1920). Patrick was postmaster of Keokuk, a member of the legislature, and was engaged in wholesale and hardware businesses. and Celestine was a much-loved member of the community who was active in several of her church organizations. The Gibbons had seven children, two of them physicians. Their son Dr. William GIbbons lived in the home with his parents.
