Oh, The Degradation of This Old House in Lodi NY $25K ~ Sold
8427 N Main St, Lodi, NY 14860
$25,000 ~ Relisted and Reduced to $17,500 Sold
OHU50K NOTES
Oh, the degradation this old house has suffered. It is such a shame when a house that was designed and loved by a family falls into such a state.
Family Background
Dr. Charles R. Keyes (1850-1908) purchased the parcel in 1882 for $250. The allopathic medical doctor, had moved to Lodi from Geneva, New York, and wed Sarah Elizabeth Root, the educated daughter of local merchant Sanford Root. They lived in the Stick Style house with their daughters Edna, Marie and Alice and a son who died in infancy . In 1892 the couple sold the house for $2000 and relocated to Ithaca.
Sadly, sometime later, the interior was “remuddled” for apartments and siding was applied. You can barely see the tower on the south elevation in the after photo, but the before photo shows it clearly.
