Save This Mansion From Demolition – Please Sign The Petition

Save this mansion from demolition. This wonderful, brick Neoclassical  mansion at 4526 Warwick Blvd in Kansas City, Missouri, is under threat of demolition.

Designed in 1913 by the Kansas City, Missouri-based architectural firm of Root & Siemens, the mansion was built for a successful dry goods merchant. It was sold in the 1920s to Charles M. Seidlitz, owner of a paint manufacturing plant, and his large, young family. More recently, the Vawter family has lived in the home. They resided there for 60 years until 2020. Since that time, the family has attempted to sell the house with no results.

The mansion is located close to the Southmoreland Historic District in the heart of Kansas City. It is zoned residential, but commercial entities may have their eyes on it. City permits have already been put in place cutting off water and utilities, and an online auction is selling interior architectural elements.

Although it appears no set-in-stone plans have yet been made to demolish the mansion, Old Houses Under $50K and Beyond is asking readers to please sign THE PETITION  to stop any plans to demolish this historic home.

Beautiful old buildings bring history to life!

Please preserve this, don’t strip it and sell to the highest, or most connected, bidder. To do so is extremely short sighted.

So many ways this house could be shared, treasured, repurposed.

Save this beautiful old home, it was built with loving hands!! Should be saved so the next generation can see the beauty of how homes where once built! It’s a landmark share with them!

I think we all object that anything this beautiful might possibly be destroyed. I have lived in an old house before and it can be a challenge. I don’t know who has been contracted to sell this, but it should be listed as a minimum in Southeby’s. It should also be marketed in China for potential buyers. Kansas City should offer some type of property tax break on this (and other older) home as even if the tax value is very high, buyers get killed by upgrading and maintenance costs.

Oh Please stop tearing down beautiful historic homes ! Why tear down town history instead of finding people To Come See It?
I think we’ve gone far enough down the path all that ” affordable ” housing is not really affordable.

What is the asking price for on this gorgeous historic home? And what kind of work needs to be done? Is it loveable as is? This information might get a buyer, but these few photos do nothing to show much of what’s needed. And from these pics it looks loveable. But please please do t demolish it? Who’s possession is it in, the bank’s the last residents? I’ll take it as a donation for the ministry Id like to start, if it doesn’t need to much work, my family is poor, but we want to move/relocate.

To even consider tearing this home down is stupid. The home could be used for so many different things.
