In 1865, 100 Mormon men worked for 18 days to build Fort Deseret. It was built to protect settlers in the nearby town of Deseret where this school for sale was later constructed in 1895 for the children of the Mormon pioneers. It replaced an earlier school that stood on the same site. In 1914, a larger school was built, and our featured school was sold at auction in 1919 to Louis Schoenberger who converted it into a home and boarding house for school teachers. Mr. Schoenerger lived there for many years until his death in 1972. The building has been abandoned for quite some time, but is still known as the Scheoenberger Place.

A historic preservationist is needed to restore the historic building.
