Save This Old c.1900 Kansas Fixer Upper Neoclassical $30K
OHU50K Notes $30,000 Reduced to $22,500
Well, now, this old Kansas fixer upper certainly took me down a rabbit hole. I spent way too much time trying to find its history (see below). The old home has five bedrooms, two baths. It sits on a corner 0.43 acre lot and features a front porch with two-story pillars, a butt bay, and detached garage. A red door welcomes you into the home with a lovely staircase, hardwood floors, stained, leaded and etched glass, and a tiled bath. It has no sewer, and the utilities have been off for years, but it does have a history. It is located a short walk to Vivian Vance’s (Ethel from I Love Lucy) birthplace home at 309 West Sixth St.

Realtor Comments
This corner lot is almost half an acre and worth considering. You will discover a hidden treasure by looking closer beyond the overgrowth of trees and vines. The original flooring is stunning. Check out the woodwork, stained glass, and lead windows; await someone to revive the home. The space is abundant, and the floor plan flows effortlessly. A few perks include the large kitchen and detached garage. The utilities have not been on for years. The home does have a basement. If these walls could talk.

History
This was the home of Dr. William Bryant, a chiropractor and self-proclaimed nerve specialist and Dr. Flora Bryant, a chiropractor. Dr. Flora Bryant was considered one of the prominent chiropractors in Kansas at the time. Dr. William Bryant hawked his Dr. Wm. Bryant Little Liver Pills starting in 1898. I couldn’t find the familial relationship between the two doctors, but they ran the Bryant Sanitarium together out of this home in and around 1916/1917. I guess if any house would be haunted, this one might.

Oh, no – I think I have torpid liver! LOL This house looks like a tear-down to me, oh my to save it in honor of it’s history! I remember when this blog featured Vivian Vance’s childhood home. That’s how long I’ve been following 🙂
