Save This Old c.1902 Indiana Fixer Upper Mansion – The Queen Anne Greensfelder Mansion Reduced to Under $50K

 $74,000 Reduced to $49,900

Several families have taken on the challenge of restoring this fixer upper mansion over the years, but ultimately gave up. The latest brave of heart buyers, Laina and Matt Molaski, purchased the mansion for $40,000 in 2020 and nicknamed her “Annie.” The empty nesters began restoration by turning on the utilities and  cleaning and scraping paint. Doesn’t look like they got very far as evident by the loads of photos I have included from the 2020 listing and 2015 listing. The Greenfelder Mansion is now back on the market and has been reduced to$49,900.

History of Greensfelder Mansion

This is the home of the Greensfelder family, a prominent Logansport family who owned a commercial building in town (since demolished). They built the home on a double lot in a highly visible spot in Logansport near other mansions.

The Queen Anne exterior needs the most work, but you can still visualize what the wrap-around porch, second floor balcony, classic detailing and slate roof must have looked like in its day.

All I can say is, “Wow!” as far as the interior goes. Mosaic tiled floors, Lincrusta wainscoting, pocket doors, high ceilings with “wedding cake” embellishment, inlaid wood floors to make it look mosaic, gorgeous bathroom tile, servant’s staircase, built-in china closet and bedroom wardrobes, period lighting fixtures, clawfoot tub, leaded glass windows and several stunning fireplaces…the list goes on.

OHU50K NOTES

Save this old house. This fixer upper was purchased in 2015 (see original 2015 photos below) by some folks who wrote a blog about the project. I don’t see much progress, though. It was recently pending, but apparently the sale fell through.

REALTOR COMMENTS

Save this old house. Restore this 1902 Queen Anne style home and make it gorgeous again. All original woodwork. 2 complete fireplaces. Plaster moldings on the ceilings that are intact. Pocket doors. Ornate stairway that designed with horse hide on the walls. Slate roof. Attic could be completed to a 3rd story of living space. The exterior needs the most TLC.
