OHU50K NOTES
No man is an island, but almost every man would like to live on an island. This waterfront home for sale on Smith Island in the Chesapeake Bay was formerly a bed and breakfast whimsically named the Inn of Silent Music. The home has had several updates, but will need a few repairs as some of the pipes have burst. On the upside are 1.3 acres, a private dock, views of the water and the beautiful hues of green and gold marshland.

REALTOR COMMENTS
Waterfront home for sale. Dramatic price reduction, bank is liquidating this property. It’s a wonderful opportunity as an investment or that special get away vacation home on an island where you can unplug and get away from it all. This property was used as a charming Bed and Breakfast, known as ”Inn of Silent Music” in the quaint waterfront village of Tylerton on Smith Island, in the Chesapeake Bay. Inn was totally upgraded by prior owners, remodeled commercial kitchen, 4 bedrooms and baths, one of which was used as the owner’s quarters. Beautiful sunset views over the water. Includes two separate lots side by side, making up the 1.3 acres. Additional adjacent lot conveys, with public sewer and water access for a total of 1.3 acres. An additional outbuilding and private dock are included. Property needs some TLC and some repairs but overall in pretty good condition. Property has never been flooded, not even by hurricane Sandy. However, 2 years ago the heat was not turned up high enough and there were a few pipes that burst. There is some minor drywall, plumbing and hardwoods repairs to be done. Also, some of the vinyl siding has blown off. Roof appears to be in good condition, replaced around 2009.

Smith Island Maryland is going down to the tune of 8sq acres a year. Anyone considering buying property there should be aware of this. Buy a boat to escape or figure out a way to move the house off the island to higher ground.

Several houses were moved from Hog Island mid-century. They were rolled onto barges and towed to the mainland.
