This was the home of William Sophus Larsen (1854-1936), a native of Denmark.  He and his wife, Elizabeth Hardin Larsen (1864-1953) purchased the home around 1905, and raised their two sons, Edmund and Harold, in the home. William was a clerk in a grain company who also invested in land in Utah. Elizabeth (aka Lizzie) was the granddaughter of the first settler of Pottawattamie County, Frances Guittar, a fur trader who came to the area in 1824.

The Larsens lived in the home until about 1940, a few years after William’s death.
