The old ice house for sale in Borger, Texas, was built in 1927 as the El Reno Ice House. Borger was a booming oil town with a rip-roaring history when the ice house was built. In defiance of Prohibition, the town had a number of saloons, brothels, speakeasies, dance halls and gambling places. In 1926 two deputy sheriffs were shot down in the street, and in 1929, prosecutor John A. Holmes was assassinated by gangsters. That was the last straw for the governor of Texas.
