History
When William and Mary Florence Hershey moved up from Miami, Florida, to this house in the 1920s, William found work as an inspector for the Motor Vehicle Department. After William’s death in 1930, Mary rented out rooms to lodgers and made the first floor into a commercial space. In the 1940s and early 1950s, she rented it out to Blue Rock, Inc, a company that built feed lots.
After Mary’s death, the house changed hands to Mr. and Mrs. Glen Hollis who sold it in 1966 to Fayette County for use as headquarters for the county health department.
