Under $100K Sunday – Circa 1853 NY Greek Revival Church For Sale $85K – Pending
OHU50K Notes $85,000 Pending
This church for sale was built in 1853 in the Greek Revival style of that period. Although, the mailing address is Seward, the church actually sits up the road a bit in Dorloo. I know the area well, as we once owned a 15-acre farmette in Schoharie County. In fact, we tried to buy the former Masonic Lodge in Seward. It had amazing original features, but was filled with pigeon poop. They were asking $12,000 at the time, but hubbie only wanted to pay $5K so our offer was not accepted.
Now a glove museum, this church is amazing, especially considering it was originally built for a small farming community. The details are stunning! And Dorloo is the epitome of small town living.
Near the bottom of the page are archived photos when it was still set up as a church.

Church for sale – Once the historic church of Dorloo, New York, now a one of a kind glove museum founded by the renown glove maker Daniel Storto. Three rooms total that abound with possibilities! Be impressed by the beautiful wainscoted ceiling, stained glass windows that accentuate the impressive interior, hardwood floors, 14 pews, and working church bell. Situated in a most bucolic setting that gives you that country feel. The lot across the street with garage is included. This building having the character of history also provides considerable potential! Located within a half hour to Cooperstown. The owner would consider selling the historical glove making contents separately. Off street parking-seasonal.

History
This beautiful building is the former Dorloo Methodist Church, constructed when this hamlet was known as Seward Valley. The name Seward was already taken by nearby Seward’s Station (now known simply as Seward) so the USPS renamed the hamlet Dorloo in 1900. It seems that the postmaster’s name of Dorlock was misread in Washington, D.C., and the hamlet and church went along with the error. The church closed after 163 years of serving its congregation, along with three other small Methodist churches in Schoharie County.
Daniel Storto
The church is now The Glove Museum, displaying artistic gloves handmade by artist Daniel Storto. Before moving to Dorloo, Daniel was the last glove maker in Gloversville, New York, once the mecca of glove making with 750 glove factories. Daniel has made gloves for Meryl Streep, Jessica Lange, Whoopi Goldberg, Debi Mazar, Goldie Hawn, Diane Keaton, and Cher.
