Under $75K Thursday ~ c.1880 Affordable Home in Parker, PA Reduced

OHU50K NOTES

This handsome home boasts a wrap-around porch, double front doors, beautiful staircase.

Parker, sometimes called the “Smallest City in the USA,” was named for Judge John Parker, a lead surveyor founder/owner of the community.  At the height of the northwestern Pennsylvania oil boom in the 1870s, however, the municipality grew to over 20,000 residents. Our featured home was built in 1880 when the boom was still going but was beginning to wean. After the boom went bust in the mid 1880s, the “city” returned to its historic small village size of 840 people.

I like how you also include bits about the town and/or neighborhood. It’s helpful for those of us that aren’t from that part of the country🙂
