Family History
Home of Adolph Johnson, Sr. (1874-1945) and his wife Amanda Sofia Johnson (1872-1939), both Swedish immigrants. Adolph was a carpenter who worked at the packing house and did odd jobs. The couple had two children, Adolph Jr. and Francis. The couple came to America in 1895, were naturalized, and saved up enough money to purchase this home free and clear. Per the 1930 US Census, it was worth $3,500, the equivalent of $60,000 in today’s dollars.
