OHU50K Notes

So many wonderful original features to enjoy in this one! I have never seen penny tile flooring on an outside porch before. Then there are the original windows, hardwood floors, natural woodwork, French doors, fireplace, and that soaking tub!

Family History

In the 1950s and ’60s this was the home of prominent businessman Albert F. Wendling. He had his hands in several enterprises, including farming, president of A.F. Wendling, Inc. and vice president of Whole Meats. I guess he gave up farming after he was charged with cattle theft. Two farmer brothers claimed that Wendling had stolen a steer and heifer in their graze land, and had transported the cattle by truck to the slaughter house where they were killed.

After Wendling spent three years in the state penitentiary, he apparently went straight and became quite successful. He owned this home with his wife Hattamena.

Large Old World fixer upper in up and coming East End area. Walking distance to the State Capitol and a few miles from downtown Charleston. Right at 100 years old this home features Old World Crown Molding, baseboards and woodwork throughout the home. Original wood floors and some original tile. This home features 4 bedrooms and 1.5 bathrooms. So much potential to bring this beauty back to its original form.
