Um, the staircase really isn’t magnificent. Looks like someone stole the newel post, spindles and rail. If that wasn’t enough, they apparently took the front doors.

The workmanship that went into building such a staircase is magnificent.

I don’t get it, there is no staircase – it’s gone except for the steps. Do you have “before” pics?

The steps ARE the staircase. Building a circular staircase in 1855 (with no power tools), took great design, mathematical precision, and construction skills. It was a time consuming and costly enterprise. The paneling incorporated into this staircase is another example of great craftsmanship.

Love the built-in’s, and gorgeous staircase. It is a work of art. Beautiful.

I love the staircase, that circular design. So graceful. I love 2nd empire houses. This one’s a challenge because of its size. I think some of those bathrooms were retrofits and remuddles. I’d want to reduce the multifamily aspect of it and get rid of or improve the bathrooms. Create a duplex of it, or a house with a mother-in-law style apartment for added income. Beautiful. Best wishes for this one’s future.

The staircase needs a newel post, a handrail, and balusters. The kitchen needs new cabinets, and appliances.

At the very least.
