Family History
From the 1940s to the 1970s, this was the home of Dr. Richard C. Shannon (1914-2007) and his wife, Ruth Sanderson Shannon. After graduating from medical school, he served in the military as a Major Medical Corporal from 1942 to 1946 and received a Bronze Star. After the war he was a general surgeon until 1972, then he worked in the ER for the next 10 years. He also was chief of staff at St. Mary’s Hospital in Wausau.
The good doctor and his wife raised their four children in this home, Richard G., Thomas, Katherine and William.
