Zillow Comments
This 1857 home in Oakland IL is in need of someone with the time to put some love and care into it. Parts of the remodel have been done but time will not allow us to finish this. There are many intricate details in the fixtures, 8 foot doors and trim work left throughout the house. Roof is in good shape, as well as foundation. Mini splits are in most rooms for heating and cooling.

Family History
I am going to hedge my bets when I suggest that this home was owned by Dr. Willis Peak, and his wife Mary. Street numbers change, so I can’t be sure.

What a gem. Most of the historic elements remain, but it reminds me of a sign in my mechanic’s shop: Labor rate – $100/hour; if you help – $150/hour. It might be more tempting if everything was left and not removed for restoration. Someone with an 1850s passion will scoop this one up.
