c.1877 Ohio Fixer Upper Italianate $50K ~ Off Market

503 N Barron St, Eaton, OH 45320    $50,000 ~ Off Market

OHU50K NOTES

This fixer upper Italianate in Eaton, Ohio (pop. 8,407) was home to Abner Tyrell, a stock broker and later county treasurer, and his wife Lois, a homemaker. Their son, William Tyrell (1918-1987) was born and lived there his entire life. He was the couple’s only child. William’s law practice was also housed in the home.

After William’s death in 1987, the house eventually became a duplex, and, sadly,  the original grand staircase prevalent in Italianates was modified and enclosed. Plenty of original interior and exterior features still remain, however, as you can see by the photos.

The house sits on a large corner lot surrounded by yards and yards of coveted cast iron fencing. Unfortunately, the neighborhood, while low crime, is not very attractive.

REALTOR COMMENTS

This Grand Dame was once the office of Bill Tyrrell, Attorney-at-Law. Since then, the fixer upper has been a single family home and a duplex. There is plenty of life left in this home, featuring newly renovated porches, roofs, and gutters. This home boasts 4 or 5 bedrooms, 2 full baths, laundry room, all original hardwood floors, and original hurricane shutters. Or, return the home to a rental with 2 bedrooms downstairs and 1 upstairs, including separate entrances. Located in the mecca of Eaton and close to everything. This stylish home will never go out of fashion.
