OHU50K NOTES

A disturbing phenomenon has been occurring this week with these fixer uppers. OHU50K has found three homes that were taken off market or sold, only to be listed back on the market for significantly higher than originally priced. It’s not like any work was done on the homes. This one today was priced at $29,900 in December of 2019. Now the price has increased by $20,000 to $49,900. I do love the gingerbread,  wrap-around porch, old iron fencing, multiple mantels, hardwood floors and the vintage kitchen with that amazing sink, but why a $20K price jump? From what I have been told, it is a case of COVID affecting supply and demand.

Family History

The  c.1898 fixer upper Queen Anne, known as the Kirby Lann House, is on the National Register of Historic Places and part of Aberdeen, Mississippi’s South Central Aberdeen Historic District, an overwhelming collection of 179 buildings dating from 1848 to the 1970s.

Kirby Lann (1862-1928) was a hardware merchant who built the house and lived there with his wife Laura, sons Felix and Kirby Junior, father-in-law Felix Henley, and cook Catherine Dardin.

Listing below is from December 2019.
