c.1902 Abandoned School For Sale in IL Under $43K ~ Off Market
465 W Orleans St, Paxton, IL 60957 $42,500 ~ Off Market
OHU50K NOTES
This c.1902 abandoned school for sale in zoned residential and is located in a beautiful neighborhood in Paxton, Illinois. It is a for sale by owner.
Although it is not livable and needs a complete rehabilitation, the school deserves to be saved. The owner has reduced the price substantially since putting it on the market in March of 2018. Hopefully, it will not succumb to the same fate as the historic Paxton-Buckley- Loda Eastlawn school building. That school was designed by renowned architect Joseph William Royer and built in 1925. It was razed in November 2019.

OWNER COMMENTS
For Sale By Owner, School For Sale: Zoned residential this unique turn of the century schoolhouse is wanting an appreciating owner – it is not livable at this time and needs complete renovation – it needs all new windows – electric – plumbing – heating – tender loving care – updates that have been done are all new plywood and 50 year rated shingles installed on the roof – gutters have been relined – chimney rebuilt to original specs – some tuck pointing.
This is a diamond in the rough – it comes with all the original maple floors – wooden staircases – Grand entrance way – tin ceilings – electrical fixtures on the interior – it boasts Architecture in brick on the outside with limestone arches – castle pillars topped with Limestone as a Grand Exterior Entrance – if this building were to be built today it would cost well over one million dollars – renovation needed depends on buyer –**SUMMER IS COMING – NOW IS THE TIME TO BUY!!!** Great for an Architects or Lawyers office or home.

Are there any other pictures of the rest of the building? This looks like it would be a tremendous place for a B&B. Thanks!

I would imagine this building could be a mixed use building as well. Given some renovations, (namely handicap accessibility) this would make for a Community Arts Center. Actually, the sky’s the limit in what it could be used for!

This would make an amazing place for my Spiritual academy. I’m starting a fundraiser now and I pray the creator gives it to me!
