Sold – Circa 1893 Queen Anne Victorian Fixer Upper in Indiana – The Lewis-Sichting House – Under $130K
OHU50K Notes $129,900 Sold on 10/10/2023
Whoa, Nelly! With its George F. Barber-like elements, this fixer upper is crying out for a savior. The exterior isa Victorian on steroids, but I love it. The interior has had many unfortunate alterations, many of which I would recommend ripping out to produce a sympathetic restoration. It is known as the Lewis-Sichting House.

History
This magical Queen Anne was built in 1893 by Benoni E. Lewis (1854-1937), owner of a general store and member of the city council. He lived here with his wife, Claude who was 20 years his junior, and daughter Gladys. Claude and Gladys continued to live in the home until 1953 when it was sold to Lloyd Sichting for his parents James and Rosetta Sichting. After Rosetta died the contents were auctioned off and the house was sold to Keith and Susie Martin who fell in love with the house. By 2003, the home was up for sale again, advertised as a “remodeled Victorian.” I hope Keith and Susie weren’t the culprits of the remodeling.
