OHU50K NOTES $12,000 Sold For $10,000 on 7/21/22
At first glance, this pre-1910 home looks more like a gem than a fixer upper, but it does need work, thus the low price. The exterior gets our attention, and the interior is a stunner with natural woodwork, tiled fireplace with mirror, beautiful staircase, built-ins and leaded glass windows.

Family History
No wonder this beauty was built with the best materials. Located in the Brighton neighborhood, the home was constructed sometime before 1910 for John Y. Andrews and his wife, Mary Broughton Andrews. The couple married in 1892 and had two children, Marion and John Jr. John Senior made a good living as an attorney, and he belonged to the Knights of Pythias. He supported the household in an upper middle class manner with the help of his siblings, both teachers, who lived in the home along with John’s mother-in-law.
Sadly, while the children were still young, John Senior passed away sometime between 1910 and 1920. His wife continued to live in the home with the rest of the family until her death in 1947. In fact, Mary’s funeral was held in the home.

Really not as bad as I thought it would be, so I’m guessing it’s also haunted. LOL

The whole neighborhood looks ripe for gentrification. I wish I had a partner to take on a project like this. What fun!
