Family History
Sadly, the original owners of this home only lived in the home for a few years before the Great Depression hit the nation and the family lost the home to foreclosure in 1929. The next family to reside in the home, the Tinny family, used it as a lodging home. Pearl Linger Tinny was a divorced woman (she married at age 16) trying to make ends meet by renting out rooms to rubber worker workers who were employed at the Firestone plant. She also shared the home with her two young sons, Paul and his little brother Clyde. Paul ran away from home in 1931. He wound up in his parents’ home state of West Virginia and was married several times. Pearl, herself, remarried in 1933 to a Jessie Evans.
