Virtual Tour

More than 1,000 residents lived in Cherry Creek when it was a booming silver and gold mining town between 1873 and 1883.  At one time, Cherry Creek had a large hotel, several boarding houses and 20 saloons. The town suffered fires in the late 1890s and early 1900s that destroyed much of the town, but saw a mining revival from 1905 to the 1940s.  Today, Cherry Creek is a virtual ghost town with a population of about 70, only 20 permanent residents. Wandering the dirt streets you will find plenty of crudely-built abandoned homes, a few made from railroad ties.
