Fixer Upper Victorian Cottage in Girard, KS Under $20K

OHU50K NOTES
The realtor’s build date is incorrect as I found a newspaper clipping dated 1916 that referenced the address. I also found a 1924 promotion for Doan’s Pills by the homeowner, Doan’s tag line being, “When your back is lame, remember the name.”
History
This was the home of Robert Gibson (1855-1932) and his second wife Martha Jane “Jennie” Reese Gibson (1859-1934). Robert’s first wife Nancy Jane Patton Gibson died at the age of 37 in 1899, but together they had one son, William. Robert worked several jobs over the course of his life, including restaurant proprietor, thresherman and church janitor.
