Free House in Dundee, IL – Mid-Century Home To Be Moved – Inactive
February 19, 2022
OHU50K NOTES
You can have a free house if you can move it by April 1st. The mid-century modern home features a wonderful, low-lying, brick exterior with banks of windows. The interior boasts walnut doors, cherry cabinets and recessed lighting. The wood frame on concrete block home with a basement (about a third of it on slab) will make this a very tricky house to move. Anyone with serious interest will need to contact a building mover first before making contact with the seller. After you have a viable plan to get it moved before April 1st, then you may contact [email protected]. Series inquiries only.
*2,280 sq ft

Such a nice house, why would anyone want to move it. The lot does not look all that special. I guess they have their reasons.

One wrong move, and those windows all break. And only 2 months to get it figured out, etc?

What a beautiful place! It’s heartbreaking to think of it being demolished for probably some ticky tacky or commercial building. I’m crying at how we destroy so much without a second thought.

That home cannot be moved it must be dismantled

I priced out moving a house similar to this 15 years ago and was told it has to be taken apart and then rebuilt and made up to code also. 15 years ago it was estimated at between 85,000 to 100,000 without the land. I sadly had to watch it get gutted and torn down because nobody could afford to take the task on.

The deadline is fast approaching!
Did anyone take the house? If so, are you able to share how the move was accomplished, i.e., house taken apart, etc.?
