Family History
In the 1930s and 1940s, Thomas J. Frank (1868-1944) and his wife, May, rented this home. At this point, Thomas was a retired mine operator for a lead and zinc mine. He was also associated with the Frisco Railroad. He was an active leader in Chamber of Commerce affairs at Joplin, once member of Joplin special road district commission and Joplin’s park board.
He also was a member of the Elks Lodge, and his wife was a member of First Church of Christ, Scientist. May loved to entertain in the home, often hosting events for her church. The couple raised three daughters, Helen, Margaret, and Emily May.
