214 W 5th St, Anderson, IN, 46016       $25,000 ~ Sold

Save this old house. As I was taking the Google Map tour down the street of this once beautiful old house, I had to stop in my tracks. Just catty cornered from our featured home is a George F. Barber house ~ Modern Dwellings Design No. 24. You have to see it. It was one of Barber’s most popular house designs and he dubbed it the “King of Cottages.”
The W. 5th example is a high-end version of No.24. A close up of the finial atop the turret shows embossed faces. This tells me that this was originally an upper middle class neighborhood. In fact, there are still some fine Victorian houses on W. 5th. Unfortunately, our featured home has seen better days. Despite the dust, grime and decay, however, its beauty still shines through.

Save this old house. Century old Victorian Beauty in the heart of Anderson! This all brick home has good bones but is in need of rehab. All original woodwork, hardwood floors and fixtures throughout. Electricity, HVAC and plumbing are in unknown condition but present. This is an As is estate home cash only.
