This farm house for sale in Pontotoc, Mississippi, hits it out of the ballpark. Built in 1892, the home is located just 23 minutes from the Ole Miss campus, yet is out in the country.
Known locally as the Wingo House, the homestead originally had 125 acres and a barn. It is in a lovely setting, opposite a small, white country church, and now comes with one acre. The house stood vacant for decades before a young lawyer and Ole Miss alumni, Josiah Coleman, purchased it. It had no running water, heating or cooling, plumbing was busted, electrical was from the 1930s, and the floors were slanted. While working on the wreck, Coleman used a tree for a bathroom, rigging up a shower curtain and hose, and hoping no one would come along the winding country lane.
Coleman worked on the house for seven years, tearing the wallpaper and muslim off the walls revealing wood boards. He ripped out flooring, installed new plumbing, and did doing a lot of the electrical. In 2010, Coleman’s new bride, Ashleigh, began sanding, staining and painting. The couple took boards and a tin roof from an old barn on the property to create a nursery, but when a second child came along, the Wingo House just wasn’t meeting their needs. The Colemans rented it out on ArBnB, and are now selling this beauty for $99,000.
