Missouri fixer upper

Brick c.1911 Missouri Fixer Upper Under $45K

OHU50K Notes   $44,900

This Missouri fixer  upper was a delight when it was built in 1911. The family spared no expense picking out hardwood floors, glass-paned pocket doors, lovely staircase with built-in bench, sweet stained glass windows and tiled fireplace. Sometime over the years a bar was even built down in the basement. The clay roof is nothing to sneeze at, too. Unfortunately, the years did no favors for this brick beauty, nor for the neighborhood.

A lot of the peeling paint is because it’s been empty for a long time with no heat, so cold weather and dampness has caused it to peel. You’ll often see it with ceiling fans, as well, they look wilted, due to humidity and temperature fluctuations. My concern is for a tiled roof. I hate them. By the time you know there’s problem, it’s actually a HUGE problem, due to the weight of the tile roof on the actual structure, that often means rebuilding the entire roof, trusses and all. Seen it far too many times. One of the houses here, I actually called about, and it had the exact same issue: tiled roof, needed total rebuild that was more than the house was worth.
