Timeline
In 1910, Carnegie donated $25,000 for the construction and furnishings of this particular Ohio Carnegie Library. The city was to be responsible to purchase books and maintain the building at a cost of about $2,500 a year. Construction started in 1911 and the building was finished in 1913.Ā
In 1981, the city built a new library. Several businesses moved into this building after that, but they failed. In 2007, Citizens for Historic Preservation purchased the property for $36,500. Then in 2013, Princeton Commercial Holdings bought it for $7,750. In 2018, a developer bought it for $5,000 with the hopes of turning it into a brewery, restaurant, bar, meeting and banquet rooms. Today, the realtor suggests converting it into 12-unit affordable housing. But first this Carnegie Library for sale needs a savior.
